Temple Baptist Church was founded in 1880 in downtown Rockford. Services were originally spoken in Swedish. In the late 1950s, Temple Baptist Church moved into a new building right in the heart of Rockford. Today, Temple Baptist is affectionately called “TBC” and yes, our services are spoken in English! There is also an afternoon service spoken in Burmese that is hosted by TBC's Myanmar Christian Fellowship (MCF) Burmese for our Myanmar friends living in Rockford.
Our Mission is to Know, Love and Serve God while helping others to do the same. We are rooted in our Four Core Values of being Relevant, Relational, Responsive, and Reproductive and we have Eight Core Competencies for which we strive. All of these come from the foundation of our Affirmation of Faith. Listen to a sample sermon series here! This was from our "Husbands On Point" series.
