Dr. Bill Patterson

Dr. Bill Patterson, known as Pastor Bill amongst friends and family at TBC, is the Lead Pastor at ​Temple Baptist

Church. In more than 35 years of ministry, he has traveled extensively around the globe to assist national church

leaders working in difficult areas of the world for Christianity. Helping develop strategic and culturally appropriate 

training has led to hundreds of churches being started in places like India, Ukraine, and Costa Rica. 

He has also trained pastors and church planters in Asia, Europe, Central America, and South America. Pastor Bill has

spoken at ​hundreds of churches, conferences, and seminars on topics such as marriage & family, the spiritual life,

spiritual warfare, conflict management, leadership, missions and developing  healthy missional churches.

As a pastor, Bill does marriage mentoring and counseling. In addition to his responsibilities at TBC, Pastor Bill does

consulting/coaching with churches and other Christian organizations as well as mentoring business leaders, pastors,

missionaries, and students preparing for ministry. For the past six years Bill has also taught with Moody Bible Institute

on both the graduate and undergraduate levels. For five years he has volunteered as a police and fire chaplain.

On a daily basis, Pastor Bill is available to his congregation and loves to meet with TBC members, shut-ins, and visitors to encourage them in their relationship with Jesus. An evangelist at heart, Pastor Bill believes that finding redemptive solutions for life’s challenges is important in working with people. Helping people experience the life- transforming message of Jesus is part of what drives Pastor Bill. As a respected Bible teacher, pastor, educator, husband, father, and grandfather, he is a straightforward communicator using Scripture as the foundation for all his sermons, teaching and counseling.


Pastor Bill lives in Roscoe, he and his wife Debbie have been married for more than 35 years, they have three married children and five grandchildren. Pastor Bill also has a great love of the outdoors and his motorcycle. If the weather is above freezing, you can usually find his motorcycle parked in the church lot.


Pastor Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries from Northwestern College in Roseville, MN, the Master of Divinity from Western Seminary in Portland, OR, and the Doctor ​of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical School in Deerfield, IL. Postdoctoral work has been done ​in the areas of church health, leadership, and missiology.
